Resiliency!

August 23, 2017 By Fr. Stephen Muse

Resiliency is the theme of the Annual Conference the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion (OCAMPR). This year we gather at the Ukranian Cultural Center in Somerset, NJ, November 2-4.  If you have never attended an OCAMPR conference you are missing a feast for the heart, mind and soul. Fellowship among Orthodox professionals and the quality of presentations is something that has drawn me back for 25 years.

OCAMPR’s annual conference is open to all who are interested in the integration of medicine, psychology, and religion, and who desire an opportunity to dialogue with like-minded Orthodox Christians. Members, nonmembers, professionals, nonprofessionals, clergy, students and all interested persons are invited.

Registration, Membership information and description of speakers and workshops for this year’s conference can be found on the OCAMPR website  www.ocampr.org.

The Conference Hotel will be the Somerset Inn (formerly the Holiday Inn) at 195 Davidson Avenue. The hotel has a restaurant, sports bar, free wifi, free parking, and a fitness room. We have secured a group discounted rate of only $89 per night for single or double occupancy. The hotel is .3 of a mile from the Ukrainian Cultural Center, an easy walk.

To make your reservation, call 732-356-1700 and ask for the group room block listed under Ukrainian Orthodox Church of USA. (Note: Staff are answering the phone as “Franklin Plaza Hotel,” as ownership is in transition.) The cut-off date for making your reservation with the discounted group rate is October 26.

OCAMPR exists to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and promote Christian fellowship among healing professionals in medicine, psychology and religion. This association, which is inter-jurisdictional and endorsed by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops, endeavors to contribute to the spiritual sustenance and growth of healing professionals for whom Orthodox Christian faith is the center of their professional life and ministry.

Tithe to Holy Transfiguration

Behold the faith the Lord gave, the Apostles preached and the Fathers preserved

"I remember events of that time more clearly than those of recent years. I can describe the very place in which the blessed Polycarp sat as he discoursed and the accounts which he gave of his intercourse with [the Apostle] John and others who had seen the Lord. He remembered their words, and what he heard from them concerning the Lord, his miracles and his teaching, having received them from eyewitnesses of the 'Word of life,' Polycarp related all these things in harmony with the Scriptures. These things being told me by the mercy of God, I listened attentively, noting them down, not on paper, but in my heart. And continually, through God's grace, I recall them faithfully." -- St Irenaeus of Lyons, 130-202 AD, in a letter to Florinus
