Join us at 6:00PM December 19th in the Fellowship Hall for a pot-luck supper and an interactive engagement with Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou, Ph.D. in search of proof of God’s presence in our lives from an Orthodox perspective.
Fr. Panayiotis was born on the island of Cyprus. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from City College, New York, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, MA, and a Ph.D. in Early Christian Studies from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
He has served as a priest in the U.S. and Cyprus over the last 36 years and has taught Orthodox Theology and Spirituality in Cyprus, at the Swedish Theological Institute of Jerusalem, Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem, Nazarene University, Calgary, Canada and various places in the US.
He has been the pastor of Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Marietta, Georgia for the past 18 years.
He has also served on the Atlanta Metropolis Council, the Archdiocesan Presbyters Council, and is currently serving on the Archdiocesan Council and the Metropolis Education Committee.
Fr. Panayiotis continues to pursue research in the Late Antique Roman History and Theology and is the author of many articles. He has published the book: Homilies on Romans by St. John Chrysostom, Volume 1, (modern English translation) Holy Cross Press, 2013 and is working on the second volume.
Fr. Panayiotis is also the co-founder of Trisagion Films, Inc. a non-profit online ministry that seeks to bring the Orthodox faith to all by presenting tangible theology through original videos of the lives of the saints, lectures and articles.
Fr. Panayiotis is married to Presvytera Catherine. They have two children, a son (Efstratios) and a daughter (Olympia), ages 33 and 30 and he is now a pappou to his first grandchild, Panayiotis.
